Vintage 1940s  spider pendant. The pendant features a central large oval shaped purple coloured glass faceted stone set into a gold tone metal. The pendant hangs from a new 9ct gold chain. The glass stones in the brooch are Czech.

Bohemia played an important role in costume jewellery. Bohemian costume jewellers pioneered cut-glass imitation gemstones and pearls. Bohemia gemstones where such good quality they rivalled beads produced in Venice during the 1920s.

MEASUREMENT:

The pendant measures 2.8cm / 1.1" in height and 2.7cm / 1.1" in width. The pendant hangs from a 18" 9ct yellow gold chain.

CONDITION:

The pendant is in excellent vintage condition.
